In short
- Copito has no internet access. The app does not have Android's "Internet" permission, so it technically cannot send any data off your phone.
- We collect no data. We, the publisher, do not receive, see or store any of your messages, information or usage.
- No ads and no analytics tools have been added to Copito.
- Everything stays on your phone, in the app's private storage, under your control.
1. Who we are
Copito is an Android app published by Parsanet, the trading name of Sepehr Ramezani, sole proprietor (EI) in Villeurbanne, France. SIREN 132 238 148, Lyon trade register (RCS).
Contact for any question about this policy: [email protected].
2. What data Copito processes, and where
Copito processes the following data only on your device:
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Content of notifications from apps you have turned on: app name, sender or chat name, message text, time, profile picture shown in the notification | When a notification arrives | To let you read your messages again, including after the sender deletes them |
| Copies of received photos, videos and voice notes (optional Pro feature) | When a file arrives in the media folder you selected | To keep a copy if the sender deletes the message |
| Your settings: enabled apps, filters, retention period, notification mode, lock | When you change them | To make the app work the way you chose |
| "Copito Pro" purchase status | After a purchase or restore | To unlock Pro features |
Copito never sends this data off your phone. It is stored in the app's private storage, protected by Android's app sandbox: other apps cannot access it. Copito does not add its own encryption to this database, so we recommend using your phone's screen lock and, if you wish, Copito's fingerprint lock.
Copito is excluded from Android backups (cloud backup and device transfer): your saved messages are not copied to any backup service.
3. Permissions
- Notification access (needed for saving). Android delivers the notifications shown on your phone to Copito. Copito saves only those from apps you have turned on, and every app is off at first. Others are ignored. You can revoke this access at any time in Android settings.
- Media folder access (optional, Pro). You pick the folder yourself in Android's file picker. Copito gets read-only access and copies received media into its private storage. It never changes or deletes anything in that folder.
- Notifications: to show Copito's alerts (new message, deleted message), in full, discreet or no-notification mode.
- Biometrics: the fingerprint lock uses Android's system prompt. Copito never has access to your fingerprint: Android only tells it whether authentication succeeded.
- Battery optimization exemption (optional): stops some phones from shutting Copito down in the background. No data is involved.
4. Purchases (Google Play)
Copito Pro purchases are handled entirely by Google Play, through the billing library provided by Google. It talks to the Play Store app on your phone, which does have internet access and is covered by Google's privacy policy. Copito does not receive your name, payment method or email address: it only learns whether the purchase was made.
In the Google Play Console, we see aggregated sales reports provided by Google (number of purchases, countries, amounts). We use them only for accounting and legal obligations.
5. Exporting your data
When you use Export (Pro), Copito creates a file in the location you choose. Once exported, that file is under your responsibility: if you save it to a folder synced with a cloud service, that service will receive it. Copito itself sends nothing.
6. Retention and deletion
- You choose how long messages are kept: forever, or 7, 30, 90 or 365 days.
- You can delete a message, a conversation, or erase everything from settings.
- Uninstalling Copito makes Android delete all of its data.
7. Other people's data
Saved messages may contain information about the people who write to you. Copito is designed to keep your own received messages, on your own phone, for personal use. It cannot access another person's phone or messages, and must not be used to monitor anyone.
8. Children
Copito is not directed at children under 13. Copito does not collect data from anyone, including children.
9. Your rights
Because we do not collect or hold any personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. You have direct and full control in the app: view, erase, export, disable.
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply, and delete them no later than 12 months after our last exchange. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in France, the CNIL: www.cnil.fr).
10. Changes
If this policy changes, for example because a new feature changes how data is handled, we will update this page and the date above, and tell you in the app. We will not drop the "no internet access" commitment without clearly announcing it in advance.
11. Trademarks
Copito is an independent app, not affiliated with WhatsApp Inc., Meta Platforms, Telegram, Instagram or any other compatible app.
